Kings Of Convenience - The Weight Of My Words (Fourtet Remix)

I've been meaning to dig into Kings of Convenience for a while and just haven't gotten around to it. I heard this remix this a.m. and am definitely inspired to go and do some homework.

How To Dress Well - "I Wish" - R. Kelly Cover

It's amazing that once you take the "R&B" out of a song how much I love to listen to its lyrics. Speaking as someone who's listened to far too much electronic and instrumental music over the last 10 years, listening to lyrics, in and of itself, is a feat I rarely tackle. How To Dress Well is something I've been following for a few weeks now and this stripped down version of R.Kelly's "I Wish" makes me understand why people even still talk about that guy. Check it.

The Hundred in the Hands // Lovesick (Once Again)

Yup, definitely in love with this sound. 'This Desert EP' is out now on Warp records.

The Hundred in the Hands - GHOSTS

This falls under the category of "If you like (love or as the rest of us are, obsessed with) the XX, you will like/love this also. A little spacey, a little rockin, and a lovely voice to boot.

Mux Mool @ Decibel Festival 2010 Pt.1

I've never been to a 'My Bloody Valentine' show but am well aware of their reputation for being one of the loudest bands on earth...something along the lines of being inside of a jet engine. I couldn't help but think of this comparisison last night while watching Mux Mool at Neumo's. The bass was so heavy I'm pretty sure my organs were vibrating. I found this video from the show that barely even lets you understand this but, figured I'd post it anyway.

I hadn't heard of this guy until this evening but being on Ghostly International is automatic points in my book. I would assume that this is what hip hop would sound like on Mars in 2075.

Maximum Balloon - Abscence of light (feat. Tunde Adebimpe)

Side project from the guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer of TV On The Radio - David Andrew Sitek. Album is out today.

Lusine - Cirrus | RCRD LBL | Free MP3 Downloads

This is one of my favorite websites to download miscellanous tracks of the day. In keeping w/ the Lusine vibe, check out this free download.

Lusine - Gravity (Decible Festival Prep)

I saw this guy briefly last year during Decibel at the SAM. where everyone was just standing around staring at him. Though his style is very downtempo and pretty, I really wished I could've danced around without looking like a crazy person. At the time I had only heard the track "Two Dots" and have since dug in a bit to know that he's not going anywhere. If you can still get tickets (http://www.dbfestival.com/ghostly-international-label-showcase/ ) to the Ghostly International Showcase tomorrow at Neumo's you're in for a treat.

Ninja Tune XX boxset

I just heard this absolutely sleek dub remix. KEXP certainly makes it hard for me to turn off the radio...um, ever. I can't seem to find a way to listen to the entire track right this second so it's only just the foreplay.

http://soundcloud.com/ninja-tune-xx/diplo-summers-gonna-hurt-you-2010-remix

I might not be able to survive without this song tomorrow so we'll see if I can get back to you on that. I will also DEFINITELY be looking into the Ninja Tune XX box set where this song can be found in its entirety. Coldcut, Diplo, Roots Manuva - done, done, and done.

Bonjay - Jamelia (Caribou cover)

I cannot wait for these guys to release something....and the fact that they are covering Caribou is beyond epic.

Dig it.

Cee Lo Green - F**K YOU

I honestly used to hate the sound of Cee Lo's voice. I never really got on board with Goodie Mob, and I tried a few times to listen to his Soul Machine stuff. At the time I would've rather listed to nails on a chalk board than hear him say more than 3 words. When Gnarls Barkley came around I had to eat a little (a LOT) of crow. Not sure if it was Danger Mouse, not sure if it was the bizarre and creative lyrics? Who knows, but I am definitely intruigued by him now and will need to go back and revisit the old stuff to see if I like it. Cee Lo's latest solo album drops in December and I've been finding a few of the new tracks on the interwebs. I just came across this today even though it's been a viral sensation for well over a month. Hilarious!

Pretty Lights

A few months ago I tagged a song by Pretty Lights on my KEXP iPhone app. And as I usually do, I did a little bit of trolling on the web shortly thereafter to hear some more tracks. Much to my surprise I was able to download entire albums from these guys for free. At the time I had only downloaded "Making Up A Changing Mind", the first in a trilogy of 3 EP's to be released in 2010.

It was only a few days ago that I went back and downloaded the rest of the EP's, albums, and a live NYE show they played in 2008. Since that day I haven't gone more than a few hours without turning on one or more albums. I simply cannot get enough. Although it's really hard to peg them into one genre or another, the overall vibe bounces around anywhere from glitchy, and experimental to clean and classy trip-hop. You won't find many tracks with vocals, and really, there is no need with the underlying mezmorizing basslines.

Pretty Lights, you are the reason I've finally decided to blog. I needed to tell everyone about you guys and you've inspired me to do that. For this, I thank you.
